There's a possibility that it thought your ethernet driver was a broken file, tried to fix it but then broke a part of it.

Try to download your ethernet driver onto a USB from another PC and install it onto your own.

Do any Wifi connections pop up at all? If not this happened to my moms laptop and it can't be fixed. She took it to Geek squad, and a few other places. They said her Internet was permanently deleted and you can't get it back. They thought it was the Card thing in the computer but she just bought a Netgear Wifi adapter and it worked. 360 Total Security is better then AVG also it properly broke something as it was repairing the files anyway you could just restore it from the time you did a back-up.

OP- You may have simply turned off your wi-fi. Check your keyboardwith a key with a wi-fi symbol or something. If that doesn't work, try re-installing your ethernet driver. If that doesn't work, uninstall your anti-virus.
