I'd prefer intel over AMD, and i also need a mouse/keyboard/monitor. ( i don't need a fancy keyboard/mouse just one thats cheap and works good.)
I will be editing pretty high resolution video on this computer and i would also like to be able to play most games with a steady FPS.
If it makes any difference i can bump the price up to around 1000 just try not to go any over that. Also if there is room for future upgrades that'd be nice.

Thanks!

Add an SSD when you can. You mentioned you can spend up to $1000, so I'd grab a 120GB Samsung 850-EVO if you can.

Do you think 8 gb of ram will be a decent amount for editing?

Yupp, you can add another 8GB easily if needed anyway. i5 and 8GB RAM will handle video editing and rendering easily though.
