I'd grab my 9 mm and tell them to get off my property or if I didn't have a gun tell them anyways

Probably not call the police right away lol, open the door see what they want.....then if they try something id just kill them

Grab my gun, open the door slowly with all the lights off in the house, run back to a dark room and invite them in by yelling from inside the house. I would act so insane (snarling, laughing, yelling, doing my best joker impressions..,) that whoever was out there would be so terrified they would call the police on me. My voice would echo throughout my house as if I were searching for them (which in reality, I am).

This has literally just happened to me.

it's 3am and I'm woken up by my door being knocked loudly, at first I thought it was a dream and ignored it but ten minutes later it happened again. This time being as stupid as I am, I went to answer it and opened the door slightly and shouted to see who it was, I got no answer so slammed the door shut and rang the police.
it took them 30 mins to arrive and by this time my door had been knocked another 3 times while I sat in the living shaking.
The police arrived and had a chat with me and explained how something similar happened earlier in the night and if it happened again to ignore it, it's now 4am and luckily they haven't knocked again.

What would you do if a stranger knocked on your door late at night?

THIS GOES FOR EVERYBODY! When your door is being knocked on at weird times of the day it could very well possibly mean that burglars are testing to see whether there are any people in the house. They knock multiple times to make sure that know one is home and if you do not make your self known they may break in. This used to be a trend in the city that i lived in and was a pretty big problem. When and if this happens to you make sure that you make your self known whether that means turning on the outside light or making sound. DO NOT HESITATE to call the police if this happens.
