I collect a few things.
1. US paper currency. I have multiple star notes, a silver certificate in great condition and a 2 dollar red note. I also have a few cool serial numbers and 50 bucks in un-circulated 2 dollar bills. All serial numbers go up by one (sorry for the time being I forgot the correct term).
2. US coins pre-1970. I don't know why, but I hoard them lol.
3. US quarters, and half dollars pre 1964 (they are 90% silver).
Pretty soon I'd like to collect silver. I've been taking 10% out of my pay to set aside for silver because it is cheap (roughly 16/oz). Considering a few years ago it was over 40/oz, this could be a good idea, but 20 years ago it was under 5/oz. The way I see it, for me 10% of my pay isn't a big deal so maybe when I retire I might get one last decent sized check, or I may have a lot of fishing weights.
