Here's my questions for you guys.
i live in California, USA. I can't seem to find any CARB legal modifications for my car to increase performance. Anyone know of any upgrades that are legal in the state of California?

I want to get black lightweight rims for this car. I don't know dimensions or anything. I just know it's 17" tire.
Can I get some affordable suggestions for rims on this car?

How do people feel about the invidia q300 exhaust? I wouldn't get the full exhaust system just because it's illegal in California. I would just get the muffler of some sort to give me the same results as the q300. I know it's much more quiet than others but I don't want something that overpowers my stereo system. Opinions please?

You could try a new CAI, injectors, and the muffler you are talking about. You can also try finding an E85 map w/ tune. I know some guys in Cali that run that type of stuff. The Q300 sounds pretty good on Subie's. Just giving my $.02

In my opinion it needs a spoiler, don't think it looks right without it

Before you mod your car you need to accept that it can/will void your warranty, that being said since its the new FA engine I am not sure what all is out yet but I know that people are doing the normal subi stuff to them like an access port and a downpipe.

Typically exhaust for subis really don't add much power especially for the cost and just make the car sound different, there are a ton of people running high HP cars with stock exhaust but different downpipes.

There is a lot of great information here and you can find pretty much anything you are looking for

Start out by adding a lip spoiler to it, cold air intake, and 1" lowering springs all around. Here's the reasons why.....

Lowering Springs: Will give the car a more agressive looking stance & will improve overall handling & responsiveness of the car

Cold Air Intake: To add some more HP, cuz who doesn't like more of that . But make sure you do some research into what brand is the best, as well as checking the customer reviews.

Lip Spoiler: Adds a little extra flare to the car added on to if you were to lower it. As well as creating more downforce for the rear end on this AWD car.

Common sense really but check reviews of brands before you buy, on MULTIPLE websites & from multiple sources

It would have to be proven that, that certain modification could/did cause failure of that particular part on the car. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Im not lowering my car. Too much of a hassle when driving.

I can't find any legal cold air intakes in the state of California for the current 2015 model. If you know of any please let me know.

I plan to get the spoiler of the sti eventually.

I have the same exact car as you and brand new, except mine came with an SPT Catback exhaust already installed. Only mod I would add would probably have to be the STI spoiler and nothing else, drives fine as is.

California has some extremely tight laws on car mods... Just the other day my buddy got singled out and hit with a $1000 fine just for his exhaust. He had to take that off plus return everything to stock to pass an inspection later. I don't know what city you're in but in LA, you will get pulled over for anything that even remotely points to your car being modded and subject you to an inspection. Probably due to the large street racing presence. Just saying to be careful.
