I am looking to build a gaming PC for as cheap as possible with the following components
i5 processor
GTX 970
8gb ram
Ssd and hdd
I need a monitor but not a mouse or a keyboard
I am just not sure about the other components and I also will not be overclocking
Thanks for any replies

What is your budget?
"Cheap as possible" is not a budget

1. You don't need a cooler unless you're planning on overclocking, which that CPU can't.
2. No need for a Z97 mobo unless you have an unlocked CPU, which that one isn't.
3. A 980 is overkill at this point, getting a 970 and later buying another in SLI is a much better option.

Cod4runz wrotefor your budget to go anything less than 1440p would be stupid imo. Notice the monitor isn't 1080p but is 1440p. Add an SSD later on-DCFC wrote [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
