Just so i can get this across without looking like I'm flaming dating websites/apps i would like too say firstly they have helped millions of people find love and marriage so kudos for that.

BUT I'm making this topic about the security levels of them, i have personally never used them but know people that have and have heard endless bad things about them.

From:

Fakes
Trolls
Perverts
Threatening people
Stalkers

and that's from BOTH males and female users!.

So do you think they are a good idea or bad idea? Should they have age limits? Should they be more secure and the members looked after more personally?

Why isn't more done too stop internet harrasment/bullying/pervanity?

What do you think could be done to make them better and safer?

Age limits will never matter because people will just put false info.

I am response to your "Why isn't more done too stop internet harrasment/bullying/pervanity? "

I think that more isn't done because the company should expect that all their members will be legit and react in a responsible way and the company's top priority is to make the website and experience better. To be frank, they shouldn't expect trolls and fakes to be on there in the first place. If the user is acting is a unacceptable manner and displaying threatening behaviour then the company should be able to take legal action.

I am fairly sure they already have age limits, but you can easily lie about that. Maybe if they added a system where you enter a unique IN (Identification Number) to get their DoB and other open details about them, then only one account could be made by one user and that account would then be legit.

These are my views and things they could change.

Very true and i agree with your points i just don't get why after the bad press that dating websites get in the news and news papers they wouldn't automatically step up there own prevention of these things happening, the suicide rate has increased due too cyber bullying and shockingly down too younger users posing as a older member.

surely that would make the companies want too crack down on this and prevent it from tarnishing their reputation that they have or trying to build?.

This is my idea of a UIN, so it can grab a DoB from a database and verify that they are the required age to join the site. Disclaimers are placed around the site to make sure that you are 18 or over, so them the company is not under legal circumstances if a young user does join.

I'm sorry but they shouldn't be able to take legal action.
They should suspend them from the website yes... but legal action no.

I don't like the idea of adding a uIN to websites (What happens when someone gets your uID and you get all sorts of accusations) plus I really don't want my money being wasted policing keyboard warriors, There's certain stuff than needs to be policed on the internet but this isn't one of them. (Maybe I'm just numb to toxicity since I play League of Legends on EUW )
