I keep seeing people/tuts say FTP is the best way to transfer files and I can see that for an internal hdd, but transferring to my USB 1tb I get about 5 megs/sec whereas connecting the usb hdd to my computer I get 26+ megs/sec.
On a game with a few hundred files FTP transfer can take 20 mins but straight to usb is more like 3... and even worse the games like splatterhouse with 10-20,000 tiny files FTP takes 2+ hours but straight to USB only takes about 15 mins.
I understand FTP can be useful... but it is far from the fastest way to transfer.
