Hi guys,

I built this computer a couple of years ago now and its starting to lack with some of the new games, so im looking to do some upgrades to it so that it can run new games pretty well. Budget of around 400-500 pounds

Here is my current build [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] Currently not overclocked.

Hoping to play games like MGS 5 smoothly

Thanks

Also, do you want to overclock?
I assume you would as a fellow user of AM3+, who doesn't overclock AMD chips.. they sort of need it... xD

Overclocking the CPU and changing the ram?

Overclockable:

use your 212 for mild overclocks if you get this, then there is always room for an upgrade if you want more out of it.

SSD is entirely optional, but you can't ever have too much SSD storage, especially with games.

Choose one of the coolers, make sure they'll fit first though(they should). No need to upgrade to LGA1150, it's not going to be a huge improvement IMO. Just overclock your current CPU and wait for Intel's next architecture, or wait for Zen. Use the remainder of your money to add more storage, if you want. You don't have to upgrade the PSU, but it's better quality and will support 2x390's in XFire, if you ever choose to add another 390.

SO it would look something like this then?

If you can afford it, I would also grab another SSD.

Yeah, use the extra money to grab another SSD, and HDD if you want/need. It's always worth more SSD capacity.
