So last night my laptop was lightning fast, at least it was at about 11pm when I got off.

After I got home from school at 4, I tried to open TTG (and other websites) but they were taking ages.I closed and re-opened Google Chrome maybe every 10 minutes or so to see if that works. Some of my games and programs even take longer to load. . I restarted my computer, ran a full system scan, even went through some files and deleted some things I dont use.

My WiFi is fine as my phone still connects and is fast, internet wise. I also tried disconnecting all the devices from WiFi to see if that helps, and obviously nothing did.

It has never been this slow before. I hope one of the PC connoisseurs can help me with this problem.

Download malwarebytes unless you already have. some malware doesn't show on a virus scan. IF games and programs take longer to load then it's not an internet problem but if you wanted to rule out WiFi then plug it into the router and check it and run Speedtest to see if your speeds are what they should be. Failing that I'd check startup incase you've installed something and not been paying attention to what other shit it's installed on top of it. If you're on W8/W10 just right click the start bar and click task manager and go to startup. if theres anything there u don't recognise disable it and restart the PC. For windows 7 you go to run (windows key + R) and type msconfig and go to startup. If that fails then if it was me I'd reinstall the OS. if after a fresh reboot it's still slow your damaged hardware. let me know how you get on ;)

Just so you know I'm not try to be a d*ck for telling you to wipe your OS. What i've described is exactly how I'd do it if it was my PC.

I had this problem, it can often be that there is too much running on start up. This can be things like anti-virus or steam or spotify and it can significantly slow down your laptop as there is a whole load of stuff working in the background taking up RAM.

ChrisWeir and you were both right. I didnt even know what a lot of those things were. I checked it last night when it started, but nothing popped up, now there are quite a bit of things. I have a feeling my Sister went on my laptop and started to download shit. Thanks for the help guys, it was such a simple fix.

I feel like an idiot.
