You don't need to buy a previous OS to upgrade to Windows 10.
You can download the Windows 10 ISO using [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and install it using a bootable USB. It will ask for serial keys a couple of times but thankfully MS made it so you can skip that during installation.
Once you get everything set-up, it should automatically be activated. You can check in the Windows 10 settings.

Alternatively you can always download a pirated ISO and upgrade to Windows 10 from there but problems with Windows 10 are more likely to occur when you upgrade from a previous OS rather than doing a fresh/clean install of Windows 10.

Pretty sure you can just download the ISO, mount it onto a USB and use that. I mean, I upgraded my pirated Windows 8.1 to 10 for free
