OP, you never want to cheap out on your power supply. It is powering everything in your system, and if you use a low quality power supply it can fry your whole system. Trust me, I've seen it happen to friends.

What kind of editing will you be doing? If it's small things, you don't need a top of the line processor as you would be able to overclock a lower end processor to get some more performance.

Also, the only thing I see missing in the build dinkleburg linked is an aftermarket cooler. I would go with AIO water cooling option if you have the budget, or a hefty fan cooler to keep the CPU cool under load.

I'd be all for only allowing certain people to make replies so we avoid these flame wars and the miscommunication could cause the OP to buy a bad build which is a waste of OP's money not the person suggesting the bad build.

Don't get butthurt about this. The 4690k is unnecessary, OP said he's not interested in overclocking, he'd be better saving money and getting a locked CPU. The GTX 980 is a waste of money, an R9 390 would perform on par for less than the cost of a GTX 970, plus reference cooler is pretty meh. That PSU is not good, the G1 units are bad, GS and G2 units are good. It's also $100 over OP's budget.

I wouldn't say the VP-450 is "garbage". It's a budget PSU and doesn't belong in a $1200 rig, but it's a decent unit for the price.

390 is better. I have a 970 and at this point, I'd gladly trade my 970 for a 390, especially since NVidia's been having some pretty shitty driver issues recently. You more than likely won't need the 6 core 5820k. A Xeon would be fine. If you insist on X99, however;

No XFire support unless you upgrade the PSU. The 550GS is great, but you'll need an 850W unit for 2x390's.

I don't need storage, I already have a 1.5TB with windows10 and all my stuff already on it, and I have 8 gigs of ram I can stick on it. I'm wondering about cooling. Do I need liquid cooling, or are the fans already on the case good enough? Also I don't want to cheap out on a motherboard. Mine died out, and I ended up getting screwed over by the guy who fixed my computer, and I got a shitty motherboard, and I know what it's like. Should I just stick with the asus one I had picked out?
