With this offseason seeming like one of the craziest in along time, from news with Patrick kane, to Steven Stamkos possibly getting shipped out of Tampa. The NHL season can not start soon enough, so in what NHL 16 doesn't cope, hopefully this will.
Stamkos trade?
Stamkos trade?
The Tampa Bay Lightning are preparing for all possibilities with Steven Stamkos. Tampas captain is an unrestricted free agent next July 1.
Stamkos is demanding a $10.5M AAV contract similar to Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. According to Elliotte Friedman, there are a couple roadblocks to the re-signing of Stamkos.
Stamkos prefers to play centre, which creates a top-six logjam with Valtteri Filppula and triplet Tyler Johnson. It sounds like the Lightning would prefer Stamkos to play on the wing to ease that issue. From what Ive been told, the discussions were professional, but both organization and player remain searching for common ground.
The second is how the Lightning see the future. By the end of the 2016-17 season, they must determine long-term plans for Ben Bishop, Victor Hedman, Tyler Johnson, Alex Killorn, Nikita Kucherov, Ondrej Palat and Steven Stamkos.
Its crazy to think the future wouldnt include captain Stamkos. Fans thought it was also crazy when former captain Martin St. Louis was rumored to be on the trade block, and that trade came to fruition. General manager Steve Yzerman has shown no fear when making hard decisions if he feels it's right for his team.[/align]
Patrick Kane tarde/Rape case
According to Barry Rozner of Chicago's Daily Herald, the Chicago Blackhawks are preparing to move on without their star forward, Patrick Kane. Kane is currently under investigation for a sexual assault case that allegedly occurred in his home near Buffalo.
With only three weeks left until training camp, the Hawks are in a precarious position. Rozner reports:
Kane had been warned about his behavior, and the Hawks were not pleased that he announced at the Stanley Cup rally that he intended to act the fool again while celebrating the teams third championship in six seasons.
The brand, the titles and the sweater go hand in hand as far as the Hawks are concerned, but no one player is bigger than the team and the Hawks and their litany of sponsors do not want to be known as a group that values winning above decency.
They do not want to be the Baltimore Ravens after the Ray Rice debacle, so the Hawks find themselves painted into a corner and Kane is holding the brush.
Many Chicago fans are angry that Chicago is considering trading away their star player, claiming Kane can't be held responsible until proven guilty. However, Kane has a past history of troubles with the law and the Hawks realize keeping Kane around damages the organization's public image.

The Chicago Blackhawks have answered trade calls from at least five different teams and are looking to move Patrick Kane following the police investigation of Kane for allegedly raping a woman in Buffalo last month.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
At least five teams contacted the Hawks once the Buffalo News first reported the investigation which involves Kane and a woman at his Hamburg home and said theyd be willing trade partners should the Hawks decide to cut ties with their superstar winger, according to a league source.
The 26-year-old is entering the first year of a record-setting eight-year, $84-million contract.
Per a team source, the organization is image-conscious and feels disrespected by Kanes actions, especially given his past transgressions. The organization also disliked Kane's comments at the Stanley Cup parade, where he said, "I know you said Ive been growing up, but watch out for me the next week."

Ilya Kovalchuk return?
Almost everyone assumed Ilya Kovalchuk would be retired long before his 15-year, $101 million contract with the Devils reached its final season in 2024-25. The Russian winger wouldve been 42 years old by then and have collected most of his money.
No one could have guessed that Kovalchuk would retire from the NHL at the age of 30 with 12 years and $77 million remaining on the blockbuster deal he signd in the summer of 2010, but that is exactly what he did today with a decision that left the hockey world in shock.
Ilya Kovalchuk is rumored to be returning to the NHL for the 2016-2017 season. Russia's unstable economy is the major factor in many KHL players wanting to leave to the NHL.
According to TVA sports, Kovalchuk recently suffered a knee injury that will sideline him for at least three months. At 32 years of age, this injury is a serious setback in Kovalchuk's plans to come back to the NHL. Knee injuries require a long recovery period and a player may have a difficult time returning to elite form.
Kovalchuk played in the NHL for 12 seasons from 2001 to 2013. In 816 games, he scored 417 goals and tallied 399 assists for a total of 816 points. He is a one time Rocket Richard winner for the most goals in a season.
