I have owned an xbox 360 for 4 1/2 years, but for the past 6 months out of nowhere I get disconnected from xbox live randomly. I then reset my router or just simply turn off my xbox and turn it back on where it will work for another 30mins-4 hours before it gets disconnected again.(note: all my other devices never disconnect) I have looked everywhere for an answer and could never find one so I just dealt with the problem. However it is really annoying and I don't want to deal with it anymore. So I have finally taken my question to TTG and hopefully someone has some advice.

It's not 'server sided' XD it's more than likely a fault with your router setup, port forwarding or placing your Xbox 360 in the DMZ may fix it (google how to) also, if you have anyone else in the house with an Xbox that can sometimes cause it, i notice whenever my brother plays the same game as me it always disconnects.

Yes it is. It's an error on Microsoft's side and not the client, you can even ask them about it.

If it was anything server side Microsoft would have fixed it, certainly if it had been happening for 6 months, also if it was anything server related everyone would be experiencing it. i don't think you really understand.

A server sided problem, that has no real effect and affects less than 0.01% of players they won't fix. I know of many issues and glitches which haven't been patched simply because it's not worth their time and resources.

A server sided issue would affect everyone on the server.. Trust me, if it only affects certain people then the issue isn't server side, the issue can be fixed by altering settings client side. there are many factors which could come into play.. WiFi strength, packet loss, ping, DL/UL speeds, ISP issues, router firmware updates, port forwarding issues, local firewalls, faulty NIC's on his network hogging bandwidth, faulty WiFi cards on his Xbox, DHCP lease time on his router... the list goes on, I have a degree in Network Security, completed stage 5 CCNA and have CCNP certifications, I know what I'm talking about mate..

This is happening to me also, I have to turn off my Xbox just for it to work again. It's bloody stupid.
