I'll type up a quick tut on how to do it with SHSH.
1) Close iTunes if open
2) Download TinyUmbrella ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] )
3) Run the program as an Administrator
4) Click on Start TSS Server
5) Shift+Restore (Option+Restore on a mac I believe)
6) Select your .ipsw that you downloaded
7) If it is an iPhone, it will give you an error at the end of the restore (due to the baseband not matching the iOS version
8) Click on "Exit Recovery" on TinyUmbrella (You may need to disconnect and reconnect your phone for the option to be available.
9) You can haz jailbreak

U can use tinyumbrella to downgrade aswell
