If you are travelling the world and have enough time to game, then you should be able to take a gaming PC with you. You will find that to get the same performance out of a gaming laptop you will have to spend extortionate amounts of money.

if you hadn't known it's a lot easier to carry around a gaming laptop xD I will also be attending gaming events, I have a desktop pc with a gtx 980Ti but I will be leaving that at home for my cousin to game on while I am away. A gaming pc is not something u can just backpack now is it

Actually, maybe not. 780m SLI seems to be quicker than 980m in most cases.

I'd go with the Alienware.

The Alienware CPU is better than the CPU in the Asus ROG laptop. 16GB RAM is more than enough, so the 32GB in the Asus ROG is pointless. The only benefit to the Asus ROG is the larger SSD(250GB is plenty anyway though), and the better panel. I don't think the better panel with worse specs is worth an extra £350 though. The GTX 980M is fairly improved over the 780M, but 780M SLI is better than a 980M, so the Alienware has the Asus ROG beat there. The 980M should still perform fairly well however, so it's up to you if you think it's worth spending the extra for an improved display.
