The stock cooler is the one that comes from a factory. Just a normal, run of the mill, cooler. Will not do so well under overclocking. The Skylake chip should come with a cooler.

When i put the motherboard and cpu together on pcpartpicker it said that the cpu didnt come with a cpu cooler.

Yep Skylake Cpus dont come with the stock cooler, looks like this will be the new norm from intel.

yes some do but if the budget allows I would always use an aftermarket cooler.

yes, but on the listing on ebay it dosnt say which cooler is used so i went to look on pcpartpicker and it said no cooler included.

The reason everyone should like to have stock coolers is to test the systems before they place it in the case. Plus its never good to have a manufacturer remove something that has been included with previous generations and call it a day, its more profit for them. (and yes i know they are cheap)

Skylake K series (unsure about locked skylake chips) don't have coolers because the main reason why people get them IS to overclock them, if you aren't overclocking then there is no point in getting it compared to the locked version, hence why there is no cooler bundled with them because the people who overclock them will get a great AIO/air cooler and not even bother with the stock cooler.
Heck my AMD stock cooler is still in the CPU box, never been touched or even taken out of the box.

Locked Skylake chips come included with stock coolers because stock coolers dona satisfactory job. Unlocked, or K skew Skylake CPU's don't come with any included cooler because the stock Intel cooler would not do the job properly overclocking something like a 6600k or 6700k, that's why they just aren't included any more, makes sense too. It'll stop pople from buying an unlocked chip and pairing it with a stock cooler, and then not overclocking?

Anyone using a unlocked processor will use a aftermarket cooler, but the point i am making its nice to have a crappy intel cooler to test the build before placing it in the case. Doesn't bother me its just less for the same amount of money we paid last generation.

but you can test outside of the tower with an aftermarket air cooler or watercooler, actually most would be easier to install outside of the tower anyway...
