So I have Fallout 4 on PC, and I am stuttering super bad and the frame rate goes between 60-30 all the time, even if I'm not moving at all. My specs should be good enough to run this game. It still stutters and goes between 60-30 fps at 720p on lowest settings so I know it's not me there, anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Specs:
gtx 970
Mushkin Enhanced STEALTH 3x4gb (12gb)
i5 4460k

I'm wondering if it may be my processor that's making the game lag this bad? I'm planning on upgrading to an i7 4790k in the next month anyway

There is no such thing as an i5 4460k so you clearly the 4460 but you need reset the game specs so it auto detects in the launcher. After that simply change some of your text details to high and lower you Anti-Aliasing. Also close a lot of your background apps as this might help.

Fallout 4 is a pretty beefy game. Are you trying to record as well or just play? It could be your CPU utilization being too high

I'm having the same situation with higher specs, playing it on low settings is still making it pretty much unplayable

Specs:
Gtx 970
16gb DDR3 ram
i7-4790K @ 4.0GHz

Also have the drivers up to date with the game ready one for fallout 4

I'm running a GTX 960 4gb g1 with 16gb Ram and i5 4460 and playing on ultra with a solid 30-39 fps. Are you by any chance running a 32-bit system

I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I also optimised f4 on GeForce for full performance and no quality and it still lags and stutters too much to play

Yeah do not use GeForce Experience, set it up yourself. Make sure that you are running at ultra details but best perfromance on everything else.

Yeah sorry not sure why I put the k at the end, but anyway even when I change every setting to give me the best performance it runs at the same fps as max settings, which is really odd and I have no idea why it's doing this

Just try running windowed mode borderless.
