Recently i brought a GTX 960 4GB AMD edition graphics card and my power supply is a 500w but doesn't have the correct cable in order to connect in, my friend recommended me to get a Corsair RM850i 850w. Is all the power really necessary though? thanks in advance.

These are the specs of my computer.

Couple of issues I see here -

The 960 is a Nvidia Graphics Card.

500W is more than enough power to power the 960. What PSU do you have now?

What cable do you need. You should only need 1 6pin connector.

And the picture doesn't work for your spec list.

Sorry buddy, fairly new to all this so just picking things up. The problem with the graphics card being i'd need to get a new motherboard?

It's a, Win power AD-E500AE-A5/A6 500W

I don't have any sort of free 6pin connector available.
I'd need a cable that would go from the 960 and some how hook up to the PSU

No, power supplies are independant from motherboards completely. You do not need a new motherboard for any PSU.

Change your current supply its a turd.

You will need a new power supply. Look at a decent 450/500w unit with the connectors you require. Post your budget and we'll suggest some, or link in some you like and we'll tell you how good they are.

Be well young man.
