Presuming that you've already got an optical disc drive and operating system then yeah. I'd highly recommend getting a gold rated fully modular PSU though and potentially some better CPU cooling so it'll last longer. My i5 was always really hot when recording but I scrapped the stock cooler for a Corsair h100i and it was a good purchase.

You dont really need a disc drive anymore tbh. Its all digital. Plus you can get your OS for free, or cheap off of G2A. Also, the H100i isnt worth it.

Same price, but unlocked Skylake i5 instead of Haswell. Nicer/better cooler, nicer/better case with a side window. Good PSU, but if you upgrade to a 600W+ unit, you would have XFire support, allowing you to add a 2nd 380 in the rig. You'll want to add an SSD at some point.

If you've already bought that rig, it's fine. Not a bad rig at all, but what I suggested would be a slightly better way to squeeze as much as you can in with your budget.

It's not that the H100i isn't worth it per se, there are just usually better options in the same price range. You can find great deals on the H100i at times, but it wouldn't even fall in to my top 10 options for coolers.

Meh, it's not terrible. It seems OP is interested in OCing as he went with the 4690k, I'm just assuming though. The 212 EVO is fine, it is a budget cooler but does it's job, and does it well for the price. The extra ~$10 for a Pure Rock, or H7 is definitely worth it though. Your Sylake suggestion doesn't have XFire support, the B150 PC Mate does not support XFire, which is weird because it's Haswell predecessor did. For an 8GB kit of DDR4, I'd take the Avexir kit, just because it won't look as out of place, aesthetically speaking. 850W is kind of unnecessary unless OP wants to upgrade to XFire 390's or something even more ridiculously high end. Ironically, your Haswell suggestion does support XFire, but is a little over OP's budget. I personally wouldn't bother spending any more money for a 4GB 380, only if the difference was $5 or so, or I had loose change lying around to just get a 4GB model. The actual performance difference will be fairly minimal in all honesty.

It's always handy though especially seems you can get one for like £10! OS fair point. I didn't like my i5 4690k being at 80-90 degrees constantly when my ideal 'safe' temp is like 40-60 area. H100 did a noticeable difference for me compared to the stock one but I liked recording constantly at 1080p/60fps and video editing hence the cooling upgrade.

80/90*c is perfectly safe. My 4790k has hit 102*c before when I was stress testing it, TJ Max for Haswell is 105*c. 40*c is an idle temp, not load and I doubt you had anywhere near 80/90*c at idle with stock cooler. Of course, if you OC'ed a 4690k on the stock Intel cooler, there's your issue. Their are almost always better choices than the H100i for the same sort of price, or even cheaper.

I guess but I just like it low then haha. Haven't tried overclocking really whilst I try sort out some other issues which are blagging my mind. Plus the shitty MSI apps are notorious for not working. And noo, my temps were at stress but the idle was like 50

80-90*c is perfectly safe for a stock 4690k under stress. My 4790k hit mid eighties easily at stock speeds, and with a 4.7GHz OC, I usually hit 95-100*c under 100% load, but it has crept higher before. I don't tend to have my CPU at 100% load though, so I'n usually sitting in the 80*c range when in use, and closer to 35*c at idle. 50*c idle with stock cooler is also absolutely fine btw, and to be expected tbh. I'd definitely suggest OCing that 4690k, no reason not to IMO, especially now that you have an H100i anyway. Unless you don't have an OC capable motherboard, that is. You don't use any MSI application to OC your CPU, you'd need to do it in the BIOS, but it's incredibly simple, a child could do it.
