Your buddy is a pleb for saying they won't work together... because it will, I have had my 970 and my 6300 going strong for about 10 months now and no issues at all.

Other than that, maybe try and neaten the cables up a bit with some cableties and try and route as much behind the mobo tray as possible.

Your friend clearly doesn't know anything about computers if he said that. AMD CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs work perfectly fine and the same vice versa.

I recommend taking that motherboard out of the case before you do the build for ease of access and safety reasons and once it's out you're going to need to work on that cable management. I am not sure if that case has backplate routing for cables but even if it doesn't get some cable ties and route around the top and bottom of the case.

One of my biggest rules when building a PC is NO cables crossing over the motherboard unless it can be avoided.

Good luck with your build and have fun doing it.

okay i was thinking about kind of downgrading the processor just to make it cheaper should i do so and get the 6300 or just get the 8370

The case is pretty crap, it most likely has barely if any room for cable management, bad airflow, and is badly built. The PSU should be upgraded if you can as it is not the best quality unit, but if you can't it wont be the end of the world

I would keep the 8370, moar cores are better amirite
plus it isn't that much more.
Change case, as the current on looks meh and probably is a bit naf. PSU, if you have the money may be worth upgrading it but if you can't it is not the end of the world.
