I am far from knowledgeable about computers & to cut a long story short I have purchased a GoPro camera which can record in 4K and I want a laptop to put the videos on and edit the footage a little. However, I do not know what laptop would be suitable for me to purchase.
What processor would be powerful enough ?
What amount of memory would be alright ?
I don't fancy spending loads, I just need something which is suitable and powerful enough for 4K video and editing somewhat. I appreciate your help, will give rep for help and for choice of a laptop which would suit my needs.
Would this be ok or not ? Thinking it wouldn't be because of the price

No that laptop will not be sufficient. What is your budget, because you'll need a rather sizeable one to edit properly with 4K footage. I would recommend a desktop rather than laptop because it is more cost effective to build a basic one that will do the job now, which you can upgrade later if you need to.
Its always good to have a processor like an i5 or i7 to render on, and if your editing suite supports it then you can use a system with a graphics card in it to leverage the speed of GPU rendering with CUDA etc which is a lot faster.

I don't mind paying a few hundred providing that the system would be suitable. I would prefer a laptop in comparison to a desktop as I could not be done with the hassle of building one, not to mention I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Because now I will see a system with an i5 or i7 and think that one will do.
Could you possibly direct me to a laptop which would be suitable in your opinion ?
Or to a suitable desktop computer if you are set on that being more beneficial ?
I appreciate your help, will give you rep. Apologies for being technically challenged.

I'm here to help so don't worry about what you don't know, just ask. What would be your top end budget for either a PC or a laptop? The reason I talk about building a desktop is because everything is tailored to you so you build to your exact specification and if you can't afford something now (example: a powerful GPU) then aslong as you planned for one in the first place then you can easily add one in later.

Potentially 700 / 800 GBP or around that mark
I just want to view the footage clearly and be able to do simple editing within the video
There maybe some leeway with the price
Thanks for your help

Okay. Take a look at this site, its called Scan 3XS and they are the same company many of us here buy PC parts from. Basically their 3XS take whatever spec you want and build it for you so that might make things easier for you.
