I have $400 to buy a motherboard, CPU, and ram (upgrading to 16GB or should I?) i do not know much about computers and am very indecisive about things like this.
I am wanting to get the best gaming performance.

Im assuming this is for a PC that has already been built so can we have the full specs of your PC including make and model of the power supply.

If this is a fresh build, whats your full budget, do you have any parts now and what will you be doing on your PC?

Why do you need to upgrade? Im assuming you want it for gaming so what games do you play?

Do you have a lack of FPS in some games?

In response to your PM to me, this i5 is better than the 4460 because it is the newer generation.

Any Z97 motherboard will NOT be compatible with the build I posted above. If you want a better motherboard ask why...unless it offers more I/O ports or features then there is no point.
