Windows does have its place in the world, for example in the gaming sector and enterprise however for me I feel that OS X is a much more refined operating system.

I currently use a Mid-2014 MBP Retina, and all that I would say would be to get one with more than the standard 128GB of storage otherwise you'll regret it. Also if you buy directly from Apple buy AppleCare from them at the point of purchase as it'll be a quarter of the price.

I had an old Acer Aspire 7715z laptop, thing was like 5 years old, done great for me but broke just a month ago, battery died eventually. I really just want some that's fast, reliable, portable and can play some games. As well as OS X which ive used and loved, looks so much more sleek and would last me years. I know there is some sort of monthly payment plan you can do with apple? but i think i would just buy from Apple on Amazon, im looking to get the Macbook pro 15 with retina display or the one that cmes with the AMD graphics card.

Well the only model with the AMD R9 graphics is the 15" MacBook Pro Retina and that would set you back a substantial amount. Apple don't directly sell through Amazon so you would need to sort out some type of payment plan elsewhere.

As for gaming on OS X things are improving and contrary to popular belief its nothing to do with the OS and more to do with the game devs not supporting it. Even the model I have with Intel Iris can play games surprisingly well and you "could" bootcamp Windows on your MacBook so you get the best of both worlds....however you'd need a fair bit of storage.

If you like OSX I'd get a MacBook.

But personally I see them as junk.

But what can I say, people like the way there OS looks and feels and I get that.

Put it this way, if its better than my older laptop im happy lol, i just want something NEW and something i can rely on and does everything i want.
The reason for wanting a mac is that its portable and i like OS X.
But it is something im going to think about it, maybe even go into the apple store and have a talk.

Apple Stores are great to have a play on the new products however the staff there are mainly there to sell and not really provide much objective advice. If you currently study somewhere you might be able to get an educational discount.
