yo, I was just wondering if anyone knew how to help me out with my problem.

I whacked my MW2 disk in the ol' drive and I completed the first sort mode mission and everything was working fine, but when I tried to get online it said the disk was unreadable and it kicked me to the dashboard.

+REP for anyone who can help me!
Do I just need s new disk or is there a way to try and fix it?

clean it and then when you put it in the disk drive tap the top of the disk drive once you put it in while its trying to read it. I know it sounds stupid but it worked for me because I had the same problem.

grab some toothpaste , get it all over the disc , let it dry for 5 minutes , wash it of and clean the disk with a soft cloth . it has worked multiple times for me.

I always just wipe the game with a cloth for a while to get off all the excess dust that is unnecessary for the disk to have on it as this will just make it difficulty for your console to read the disk

Give it a good clean then try it again or you can take it to a store and fix it for like $3
