My birthday is coming and I was wondering if a GTX 950 could handle 144hz monitor, if so can someone link me one for a reasonable price?

It would handle it no problem. but being able to utilize the extra will only be available to you in very few games.

So I'd think about getting a nicer better monitor instead on a over-marketed "gaming monitor"

What do you mean being able to utilize the extra?

To make use of the extra response times, you need to be able to run games faster.

Usually at the same refresh rate as your monitor, so unless you run games at 144FPS, you really won't see much of a difference, and with a GTX 950, I can't see that being a thing, unless CS:GO is your main game.

What graphics card would you recommend I upgrade to?

I don't think he's talking about the graphics card, its the games that can't run at 144fps. He said you graphics card could handle it just fine.

But if the games can't run at 144FPS then I would need a knew card, right?

Bottom line is don't bother buying higher refresh rate monitors, I decided against it and got a very good priced AOC IPS monitor and don't regret it one bit.
