Hey guys.
I never really posted here in this section before and I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say no-one has ever had the same problem I have with my car but I needed some advice/tips.
I own a 2005 GLI and my car doesnt shift to first gear unless it's warmed up for 10-20 minutes which is a pain in the ass to do in the morning.
I've read things saying I need to replace my solenoids and I could buy a kit online for 250 to replace all 9 (might as well) and if any of you know the average price for labor? but I just wanna see, has anyone ever had anything like this? It goes into limp mode and doesn't pass 20mph unless its warmed up.
I'm not sure if I wanna sell this car and just go for another one, it has 123k miles on it.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

Take the car to a shop and have them flush the transmission fluid. This might be causing your issue. You really should let your car warm up, however this is abnormal. Get the trans fluid flushed first, and post results.

could be a few issues, first try the trans fluid thats the cheapest and easiest fix, if not it could be the clutch fork or slave cylinder not engaging properly and thats gonna be a expensive fix so lets hope its gear oil

Yep, this is all I got. You would be surprised what a little fluid can do. Lubrication makes everything better
Edit: I forgot to mention, VW's are a pain in the ass to work on if you are looking to be a "at home" mechanic.

Any idea what caused this?
I would really not want this to happen to mine.

I read a lot about it being the trans fluid but thats an 100-200 fix and you can't go to any random place like jiffy lube, you have to go to the dealership which is the worst. I'm gonna try to go somewhere else first though I'm looking for a mechanic around me but its tough.
I'll update when I replace trans fluid.
