I personally feel that MOTM causes issues with favoritism, fighting, and overall unfair voting. I have ran a small forum site in the past with these type of badges and it always turns out bad. By small i say roughly 58 - 70 members.

Its just overall not a good thing.

I think its stupid idea, people will jump on the bandwagon and vote for people who are most known on the site.

I don't care about badges, rep or post count...

I can definitely see the future biased SB fan boy favor here but oh well. I like the idea I just hope its treated fairly and what they define "MOTM" as

If a member earns the badge, do they keep the badge for good? Or they only keep it for the month?

Shouldn't be about popularity. Each month of the year should have a different basis for it.

So January of each year would be like most active online: posts, shout box, comments etc

February would be like most talked about, so maybe like most times their name was used that month (there must be a way to keyword that but it could be difficult)

March would be like most helpful user (thanks) or something

Etc each month would be different, and the req of that months badge would not be released until after it was earned so people don't try for it, it just happens, plus if people know about the req they could boost it type of thing

Also one more thing I forgot to add. If you get it more than once the badge would could from MOTM to MOTM I (Roman numerals until 10 aka X)

And if you hit X you get a different color MOTM badge.

Not a fan of the badge but this idea seems like a good way to implement it.
