Some of you may know about ovh, so i was hoping you could help me out a little,

they offer many types of servers such as dedicated game servers [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

and also enterprise servers:

my question is that, what is the actual difference? some of them have exactly the same specs,

they can all run server 2012, so i'm not really sure. The only difference i can see is that the enterprise servers have 2x 2 tb however, i did find some enterprise servers with exactly the same specs and even more bandwidth for the same price as a game servers.

So could i just get one of them and host a game server on there?

I know this makes me sound like a noob, but really, i cannot see the difference.

The "gaming" one uses gaming hardware, well enthusiast hardware. With 6 cores, 12 threads, its still a beast and will be fine for a gaming server.

The enterprise one comes with lots of bells and whistles which, depending on your need and knowledge, you may or may not use. This includes beefier hardware, RAID which should hold your data encase a drive fails and you get root access to the server so your not limited by the control panel.

The enterprise one is more for advanced users, for people who want to fully customize a server, not just a plug and play which the gaming one may be.

If in doubt, get in contact with their support and see whats right for you.

Thanks for the insight man but they do offer root access for the game servers as well, both the game servers and enterprise are fully un-managed and yeah I have just sent in a support request as they have also removed a lot of servers off their game server list.

The only other main difference i can see is that they offer Game specific DDOS mitigation on their game servers:)

would you say that technically the enterprise servers have better hardware?
