I can't tell exactly where you went wrong but there are websites that give you the answer with work.
That helped me a lot when I was in math.

Is this Pre-Cal? I remember doing that around this same time last year. Except I was always blazed in class and couldn't comprehend the numbers ha.
There's a simple set of rules when it comes to exponents. I'll list the ones I remember:
-When exponents are put to a power (an exponent on a variable inside parentheses to another power), multiply them
-When exponents are being multiplied, add them
-When exponents are to the negative power, inverse and then multiply
I believe DeluxeHazard covered all that in his picture. I decided not to go into engineering and instead chose Business Finance so I decided not to take calculus this year. So I'm a bit rusty. Hope I helped a bit.
