I have the new CPU and MOBO.
I'm swapping an i5 4790 for an i7 6700k and a new motherboard.

Is this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] accurate for the work/steps I need to take?

That's taking things a bit far. I've done many of these upgrades in the past for both personal and business, all you'd need to do is backup any personal files you want to keep and make sure you have the means to activate any products again that are currently activated legitimately.

Changing a motherboard 90% of the times requires a new OS. So think of it as installing a fresh OS, what ever precautions you take for doing that, do the same for this upgrade.
