Hey TTG, I'm planning to build a new PC. I will be using it to play current games and possibly some video editing. I'll be playing games like CSGO and Battlefield. I also want to try to salvage some parts from my current PC. I currently run 2 monitors and will want that same setup.I will probably salvage the RAM and HDD. I do not need any peripherals or any OS.
However, I am wondering if I need to build a new PC or just upgrade the GPU and CPU.
Here is my current specs (if anything is worth keeping) I have a Lenovo 430k OEM:
Location: US
Budget: $1500 USD
Other info:
I don't not really care about aesthetics, the PC will be under my desk on hardwood floor.
Thanks for the help, let me know if there is any other info you might need. Rep will be given to any help.

Well, having owned the same CPU as you, there really isn't any need to upgrade from that for a good couple of years at least, it's still a very good CPU for rendering and gaming from my experience.
Do you want new monitors or did you mean the ones you already have?

I'll be keeping the same monitors. Overall, I think I just need a new GPU, but Im not sure which will fit with my motherboard, or if I would have to get a new case and new motherboard.

What case and PSU do you have? Any GPU will be compatible with your motherboard, it is just your case and PSU that will determine which are compatible with your system. I would just get a GPU, SSD, possibly monitor and maybe new case and PSU if you need it.

God no, did you even read the thread?
Not much need fore a CPU upgrade, cooler isn't worth the cost, RAM is completely unnecessary, HDD is waaay too expensive to be worth it, PSU is shit, there are better cases for the money and you plan on paying for the OS? lol

The only things I would keep from your current PC is the CPU, RAM and HDD, everything else can be shot other than the monitors.
This is what you could do [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
New motherboard as the one in that Lenovo is probably rubbish anyways. SSD for boot drive and some games. GTX 970 which will handle the games you want to play with ease and the HT with CPU will help also. New case so there is support for the GPU and motherboard and a solid PSU which will handle SLI in case you want that in the future. New cooler which is cheap but performs well. If you dont already have thermal paste then you may need to get some like this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Other people may suggest you buy a whole new rig but honestly you really dont need to, I only recently swapped from a 3770 to something better because it was to suit my needs but in your case the 3770 should do you fine for quite some time and if you was to upgrade again down the line. The only thing you would need to upgrade would be CPU, motherboard and RAM.
If you do want new monitors then I would suggest getting two of these if you need two [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] or you could get a 1440p monitor instead given that the 970 can handle 1440p [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If you're comfortable spending the whole $1500, I'd look at this;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
1440p panel as your main monitor, keep your current 1080p as a side monitor. 980Ti, perfectly capable of maxing everything at 1440p, plus you have SLI support so you can add a 2nd 980Ti at any point, if you feel the need/want. M9i instead of the Raijintek Aidos, because I think the M0i looks nicer, but the Aidos would also work perfectly fine. I'd take the Enthoo Pro M over the S340, it has a little more room, looks and feels a little more premium than the S340 to me as well. You could get a 1TB SSD within budget if you wanted, but I feel like 500GB would be fine. I'd maybe invest in another HDD, as 1TB is fairly minimal these days(IMO), but you may not need more.
If you're interested, you could maybe invest in a 4k panel, rather than 1440p;

PSU is 280W, case size is 175x360x409 (WxDxH) mm

I'd just get Dan's build then, but get a BX200 rather than the 850 Evo as it is ~$20 cheaper for similar performance.
