A Petition has been started to reconsider Andrew & Daniel Frankish's Prison sentences for animal cruelty charges!
Andrew, 22 and Daniel, 19 were given a slap on the wrist with a 21 week prison sentence. The dog named 'Baby' tragically had to be put down three months after the abuse because she lost the use of her hind legs. The harrowing footage released by the RSPCA, who called it "one of the most distressing" videos ever seen, shows Andrew hurling pet bulldog Baby down the stairs, pile driving it head first on the floor and jumping on her head like a trampoline.
The brothers lenient sentences have sparked outrage on social media and prompted the petition calling on David Cameron to review their sentences.
The campaign on change.org has so far clocked up a staggering 340,002 signatures.
Petitions which reach 100,000 signatures are generally raised in Parliament.

Here is an update on this article!
3 Apr 2016 Good evening you lovely people. I apologise for the delay in updating you all, I've had a couple of personal matters to attend to in the last couple of days, and this is the first time I've had a chance to sit down and write a proper update for you all!
So, since my last update a couple of days ago, we've hit a few huge milestones and a lot has gone on! Here's a breakdown of what's happened and been achieved in the last few days.
Firstly, we're at almost 400,000 signatures on the petition. That's absolutely insane, and I can't thank you all enough for all the shares, signatures, emails, text messages, so on and so forth that you've all been doing. The support for this petition and the linked fundraiser has been phenomenal! We've had some big names sharing the petition too, especially on Twitter - people like Cher Lloyd, Terry Pratchett, Alan Carr, and more. That's absolutely fantastic, and I simply can't believe this has gone global like this. I have also re-activated my Twitter for the petition, as it's such a good way of sharing it to important people - my account name is @scarfey1991, should you wish to follow me and any real-time progressions that are made.
The petition has also been in the news a lot recently, in all formats. I spoke live on BBC 3 Counties (Bucks, Herts and Beds) on Friday morning as they were discussing the petition and the Frankish brothers' sentencing. There were pieces in all the major UK newspapers online throughout the week, and it also achieved a big piece on page 33 of Thursday 31st's Daily Mail. The petition even reached a few non-UK newspapers online, one I've seen personally was a Belgian article! This publicity is fantastic, and just goes to show that thousands of people across the globe are in agreement that the sentencing of these two brothers was far from adequate.
Now onto a slightly contentious point, the fundraiser page. What's incredible about the fundraiser is that it has already hit and surpassed the £3,000 target I initially set, and that's absolutely phenomenal! It brings me such happiness that there are so many generous, wonderful people out there that want to help support other less fortunate animals like Baby, and all the donations are massively appreciated. However, despite this great achievement, I have to clear some things up. The money is NOT going to the RSPCA as an organisation. It is going to the Middlesbrough and South Tees region, and is going directly to the animals - to help buy food, pay for vaccines, so on and so forth. I have had this confirmed by Ann Sutherland, the Welfare Secretary for the region, by email. I will put a screenshot up showing the email I received on my Twitter account (again, @scarfey1991) once I have sent this update out, so every person that has signed this petition and donated to the fund can see that it is genuine. I have also had a few comments posted onto the GoFundMe page which I can't directly reply to, claiming that I may not be genuine. I can promise 100% that I am genuine, if I planned to line my own pockets with the donations, I wouldn't have allowed this case to go viral and have my name put all over the press, all over the planet. That would be the polar opposite of smart, as stealing from charity is fraud, and stealing from charity is worth more than my morals and my career is worth. I try to reply to everybody, and please, if anyone has any concerns, questions or comments, please feel free to message me directly - either by the contact buttons on the pages, by Facebook message, or by Twitter. I will get back to you, it may not be immediate due to the amount of messages I've been getting recently, but I will reply eventually. Unless it's offensive obviously, I won't tolerate that, however thus far I haven't had any offensive messages sent to me, and I hope that continues!
Okay, now I've got that out of the way, let's talk about progression. Anna Turley, the MP for Redcar, has gotten behind the petition in a big way. She has sent a letter to the Justice Secretary Michael Gove, calling for the Frankish brothers' sentences to be reconsidered and to have tougher laws imposed on animal cruelty cases. I have attached a screenshot of the letter, from Anna's Twitter account, to this update for you all to see. This means we're a million times closer to getting something done about all of this, and you have yourselves to thank for that - without you all helping this topic become too hot to handle, it wouldn't have been noticed in the same way. You're all making this possible.
Anyway, I think I have covered anything. I will update in the next couple of days when necessary, but please, please, please, keep coming to me with your messages, keep sharing the petition, and let's make this change together!

This is quite a pointless endeavor.
Judicial independence means that the Government cannot interfere with court decisions and rulings.
The Attorney General is the person we look to when a sentence is considered unduly lenient.
However, we should remember that what we hear on the news and see in the newspapers is only a small fraction of what is really going on behind the scenes in a story.
This will result in nothing but disappointment.

I don't know much about the Judicial independence but this is not pointless, This story got a LOT of attention recently due to some famous names and BBC so if their sentences don't get changed it still raises awareness of animal cruelty and the petition has also raised over £3000 for the RSPCA. I have updated the post due to more information

Sure it will have had unintended consequences, but the main point of the petition, to change the sentences of these people, won't be fulfilled.

To be honest, the maximum sentence they would be getting would be a couple of years at most. And as you said, it can't be changed by the government. On the other hand, this will almost certainly ruin the rest of their lives. They'll never be able to get a job and their house and cars will most likely be vandalised.
It's better this way in my opinion.
