I just bought a new desktop and it has 4gb of ram stock, so i bought another 4gb ram stick, the right compatible one, but when i check my system to see my ram it shows up 8.00 but it says (only 4gb useable) how do i make it so all 8 is available? i alread did the msconfig thing and that didnt work

Is your OS 64 or 32 bit?

Like Sys asked above, you may have a 32-bit system as it's only using 4GB of memory.

To tell this go to Control Panel > System & Security > System

You should see the OS 32/64-bit under your installed memory.
