May I get a little off topic here and ask why you're making this? Are you making it for fun, or are you trying to be the next Facebook? I honestly don't see the need for another social media, we already have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Beme, Myspace, etc. If you're doing it for fun, I'd do it just to gin the skill but if you're trying to be the next big social media, I'd personally stop just because the market is already saturated.

With that being said, if at all possible, try to find a name like Twitter where you can make tweets, not just another post. As soon as someone says tweet, you know it's Twitter, but when someone says post, you don't know what platform they're talking about.

You could also try something that's in sayings so that you already have a slogan. For example you could name your platform "Grapevine" and your slogan could be "heard it through the grapevine". Where this falls short is the posts could be called a vine, however people associate a vine with a short video.

Not to be rude, but I'm just interested in what will make people jump from other options like Facebook that is a well established/trustworthy company.

What are you going to offer that Facebook,Twitter,Instagram and all the other social media giants can't?
