Drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is to be extradited to the United States, Mexico's foreign ministry has confirmed.

It follows an extradition request from a Texas federal court over charges of conspiracy to import and distribute cocaine and marijuana, money-laundering, arms possession and murder.

There was also an extradition request from a federal court in California.

Charges may also be pending in Chicago, New York, Miami and San Diego.

Guzman's lawyers have 30 days to appeal.

One of his representatives, Juan Pablo Badillo, said he would file "many" legal challenges.

The ministry said it had received guarantees that the death penalty would not be sought against him.

Mexico abolished capital punishment and does not extradite its citizens if they face possible execution.

My thoughts: He is gonna have a seriously miserable life now he will get 20 years atleast, be separated from general population and the only outside time he will get is is in a cage. So unlucky El Chapo you **** up should have left the country and retired.

He'll never break out again. He knows it, Pablo Escobar knew it.
Pablo Escobar was so scared of being extradited that he offered to pay Columbia's $10bil national debt if they agreed not to.

Colombia* and there was never any evidence that he offered to pay the debt even his associates after his death said that it wasn't true but yeah he was petrified to get extradited.
