I am using windows 10 on a home PC. Recently on Chrome, when i click somewhere, a new window will open instead of just refreshing the current window with a new display. This doesn't happen every time i click, only once in a while. What can I do to fix this? Some setting somewhere i'm sure will do the trick but what and where? If anybody knows how to get rid of this, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Is it opening a blank window or a window with ads? Does it only happen when you click refresh (and then only sometimes)

Unless you are mis clicking you might have some sort of virus, I can't think of any setting that would randomly open a new window.

Doubt its a dangerous virus if it just doing that, just an annoying one. I suggest downloading some anti virus like maleware bytes.

I don't think its a virus or anything like that. For example when i google something and end up with a bunch of links to choose from, sometimes when i click one it will load in the current window but sometimes it opens the link in a new window. The same effect as right clicking and choosing "open in new window". When it happens i just close the new window and click the link again, then everything is back to normal. The link opens in the same window just like it is supposed to.It is inconvenient more than anything i guess.

Could be your mouse.

If you click the mouse wheel on your mouse or (Button 3) this will open a new window on whatever you clicked on.

It might be that when you click the left button its clicking the wheel in also.

Troubleshooting:

- Unplug the Mouse and Plug it in again.
- Check Mouse Settings.
- Check macros on your device software (If using a gaming mouse)

Let me know what happens. -
