200 is the minimum he has, he is able to up that by a little bit more.

Unlike consoles, you have the choice of upgrading computers and using parts from the previous build for a new one. You also don't need to purchase all the parts, you can go with a new GPU, and power supply if the case supports it, and still be able to game at 1080P at high or ultra settings with ease with only a few hundred dollars. Later down the road he can get a new case, and an SSD for faster boot times and load times.

In my opinion man just keep the Xbox and just save up for a decent PC. You never know when you might just want to hop on your Xbox and not your PC. I regret selling mine, I will be buying another one here pretty soon.

The answer is yes. Just the amount of games you can play over a console is reason enough to ditch the box and expand your horizons. But the crucial part lies in 1 question. Pre-built or DIY. If your looking for performance/dollar a prebuilt will never win over 1 built with your hands (or buddies). But you must ask yourself "am i only gaming on this thing?". Then depending on your answer, research. Youre not being handed a golden ticket here with a 1-stop solution in a box, ie. consoles. YOU decide which hardware and what hardware is compatible and build from there. You can game comfortably with a $400 rig, hell even cheaper if you take your time. That means for that a few upgrades here and there depending on the current run of games that may need some more beefed up GPU to run or maybe its your CPU that cant handle the rendering. Theres a learning curve to PCs but the community is huge and full of help. Sell that damn box and upgrade.

PROMISE you a 500$ rig is shit.
500$ Will get you a maxed out xbox 360 in a PC.
Meaning youd be able to max most 360 games (SSAO, Anti Aliasing all the way up, etc)

Next gen, or newer games however.
The shaders and textures they use (Fallout 4 for example) will run you 300$ is for a GPU to run it on lowest, and that's only the GPU.

I'd stay where you're at.
PC gaming is an expensive an at times un-fulfilling hobby.
Hard to have the best when every week something new blows your old specs out of the water.

I did and honestly the best thing ive done!! been playing xbox for 11 years and i thought switching to PC would be stupid and not worth it but i love every second of it! games are much better i find

Somebody forgot about the GTX 1060 and RX 480.

Hey btw I play Fallout 4 on my PC which uses a GTX 960 4GB and an i5-4460 at high-medium and runs just fine. The 960 isn't a $300 card either so yeah...
