You are going to have 2 problems with this and they are:

1. A lot of people will claim they haven't had gold before just to have the benefits again.

2. It's really only the NEW members that haven't had gold before. And with the site growing and growing, i hope you earn a lot of money to keep this going.

people should only get gold if they deserve it granite some people may get it due to the fact it would give them a chance to prove there worthy of being active all the time on the site good luck who ever wins

I am constantly posting things on Off-Topic Discussion trying to build my reputation and entertain people/help whoever I can. Having gold would definitely allow me to do this even further and it'd be an amazing oppurtunity. Been here for almost 4 years and never been able to get it.
