I'm fairly well off, but I wouldn't say that I am rich. However, my parents raised me properly and I was taught many manners and they push for me to be independent and hard working. The rich kids that I know I've come to learn do not respect others and their belongings.

Most of the people I went to school with had a fair decent amount of money.

A lot of them just didn't value it as much as I would. It would be stupid things like a group of people were all getting together to go on holiday in the summer and some couldn't understand that I could not afford it within the same year.

I'm saving up now to go on holiday in 2 years time. I can't just ask mummy/daddy for a casual 2 grand to go abroad with.

hZ_Frags wrote Its very difficult growing up without money because my mom had cancer and is disabled and can't work and my dad sometimes only makes $400 a week and its very hard because my States economy is very bad and its hard to go to school wearing old clothes from last year and not being able to afford phones and barely even shoes. But I love every day of my life because it has showed me money isn't happiness, love actually is. Not knowing where your next meal is coming from is very scary but even if it is a $5 pizza you won't starve.

Wow I'm very sorry you had to go through and are going through something like that. Hope your situation get's better and I'm sure it will. It's all uphill now man just keep with that attitude and continue to work hard.

Well I was pretty privileged. I came to realize this after going to High school. Seeing my friends struggle with transport.Friends only had 1 car which their dad used to take to work and here I had 4.

Never used to brag about anything probably didn't want anyone to feel bad about their situation or circumstances Heck there was even 1 friend that I used to drop off every time i went home for a year as his home was on the way. I wouldn't say I'm very rich but I'm pretty much at the stage where I'm above average but just borderline rich. Don;t mean to sound obnoxious

Knew people 10x time richer but were never happy than who were 10x less fortunate than them.

I'm very thankful and blessed with the stuff I already have and wouldn't ask for more

Don't mean to sound rude or anything.Just stating some things I noticed

I'm not out of my house yet (I'm 17), but I'm growing up in a middle class family. I wouldn't say either one of my parents are rich (parents are divorced), but they're far from poor. I can safely say that both my parents are financially stable because they're smart with their money. My mom would always point out to me how dumb so many people are with their money, especially the people who are not as financially secure as my family is. Every now and again I will see someone flexing with the newest technology or a nice car when that person can't even afford the clothes on his or her back (obviously an exaggeration). Someone I know personally who I consider a friend does not even have $10 to his name right now, but just last week he put a down payment on a 2010 GTI. Yea the car is nice, but he can't even afford the air in its tires! In summary, coming from a decently well off family, I see how stupidly people spend their money lol.

When i was younger i never understood why everyone wore the same shoes all the time, because growing up i always had at least like 6 or 7 pairs of tennis shoes and dress shoes and stuff.

I still only wear the same shoes. I have one pair of shoes I actually wear, one pair of dress shoes, and a pair of slides.

Main reason being that it's hard to find anything super nice and not super expensive when you wear a size 17 shoe. Never understood the whole sneaker head thing.

At one point with my mom and step dad, they had their own business, and at one point had 1.7mil in their joint account, but he got caught up with drinking, they divorced, and since then, I've lived on both sides of that fence.

If I ever won the lottery, I'd split it among my friends, the only thing I want in life is to have what I need, when I need it, with maybe some extra stuff like good internet and such, and the most expensive thing I'd buy is my dream car which is any make and model of the Lotus Exige, I'd buy it outright, and finance the insurance out of pocket for like, many years in advance, but I'd still live the simple life in an apartment or a small house, with the woman I love, and just enough money to have a decent and happy life after, the rest of the money could be split among friends or donated responsibly.

I've had money, and I've gone completely without, where I was on less than a college kid diet, one pack of ramen every day or so. At one point in my life, whether or not I'd shower, depended completely on if it rained or not. Living with money, yea I had nice things, good internet, and game system, food whenever I wanted it, and living without, yea it was a struggle, but it built me into what and who I am. Living poor, I learned what my environment had to offer, I even learned how to wash my clothes and shower with the minimal amount of supplies. So yea it was hard, but it taught me a lot, ad gave me some amazing perspective.

I admit, I don't like those who don't appreciate what they have, and I'm not afraid to speak my mind on that point, because I learned that lesson once I lost all the stuff I had back then, and I'm slowly making my way as I go to have a decent life. money has almost no meaning to me, and if it weren't necessary for a good life, I wouldn't care much about it.

I wish I could abide by this thinking everyday of my life! I literally hate spending even a penny on anything because I am so cheap lol. I have sped through tolls, parking garage gates, etc. just to avoid spending the tiniest amount of money.
