So I found my 5/6 year old Acer Aspire M1201 in the attic. I was playing around on it and it's extremely slow so I thought I'd try a building / upgrading project on it.
Since this will be my first time doing anything like this does anyone have any recommendations with what to start off on or what to upgrade (I know RAM is a must being only 2gb lol)

You should probably start by wiping the hard drive and installing a fresh non resource intensive OS. I personally recommend Arch Linux or Lubuntu

Bin it and build an actual decent system. You could probably re-use storage, that's about it.
