So currently I'm up at college and while the internet here is pretty good but im having some issues with using my xbox one and i know i can't directly port forward or anything here. So i was wondering, if i get my own router and plug it directly into the wall, would i be able to port forward or at least open ports?

Whats the main issue you are having?
Is it that your Xbox one is moderate?

No, my issue is that i constantly disconnect from party chat and have all sorts of party related issues, but i also can't play some games like rainbow six seige. When i try to play itll connect me to their servers for a few seconds and then disconnect me and give an error code which just means that i lost connection to their servers.

you can hook a router to your computer and bridge the wifi connection to the ethernet port on it and then port forward. or if you have a ethernet jack in your room main line it and portforward through it as well.
