There is absolutely no reason why you should go to school for 6 years to be a mechanic. Even just with an associates degree and actual work experience you will be fine. You don't need to make 100k a year to be comfortable. You could be fine with 60-70k after about 10 years experience and live comfortably with your own house and a new car every 4-5 years. I'm going to school for IT and my dream job is to be a cable technician for Comcast. The education required for that is just high school. But having the college will get me a better chance to get the job and at a higher pay grade.

Personally, I would Got to Uni and I would learn more but that's just me though. Also it's less money that going to college. As you only know basics it's going to take a long time to be whatever you want to be E.G - Paramedic.
