So I was having problems with my mic and it wouldn't read that it was connected so I figured it was the controller. I bought a new controller and when I plug it in people can hear me but I am un able to hear them, any tips on how to fix this problem? I try turning the volume up and it doesn't make the beeping noise as if i were raising volume on it.

Sounds like your speaker is busted on your headset. Until you get a new one you could put voice audio through the TV so you can hear them talk while your mic is still working fine
