What's it take to become a Mod and do you guys get paid to be admins?

Answered the requirements previously. We do not get paid to be Admins - none of the staff are paid except telli as he needs to be paid for the web development he does. We all volunteer to help the site out because we love it.

Dear god I hope not...

KyloCrux wrote When are new moderators selected.

Is it random or is an application process held?

How old are you?

Is TTG your full time job?

When will the YouTube channel be utilized.

Why was my video submitted to Madeline never uploaded?

Why was the thread Madeline made about videos being added to the channel removed?

We select new staff if we feel that we are overwhelmed with work and require the extra hands to help out keeping everything maintained on the site. Depending on this we may ask specific members if they would like to step up to staff or run a global announcement with applications.

I'm 24 years old and TTG is not my full time job as much as I wish it was. I actually work as a "Hybrid" (Cause I am expected to be able to do pretty much everything) Customer Service Rep for a global health insurance company. I deal with calls as simple as "Is this member covered" or "can you reset my password" to helping discuss members claims and resolve any disputes to assisting with emergency evacuations for members and sending guarantee of payment documents to hospitals around the world so clients can receive treatment. Love the job because it is constantly challenging and always interesting.

I'd love to see the Youtube channel utilized more often. I feel that staff have been busy with maintaining the site and not had the time to put towards it which should change early 2017.

Donald_Trump wrote What was the most exciting year for TTG and why?

This is a hard one... We have always tried to re-invent ourselves. I mean think of what we were like when you first signed up 5 years ago and you will know the difference. We were heavily modded based website which we have tried to work away from with the scene dying out.
I would have to say the most exciting year on TTG would be 2010/2011 with the growth the site recieved. Every day we were having thousands of members joining to pay Unlucky_7 & Swifteh (who I hope is doing well with his kid) for COD4/MW2 lobbies. MW2 Custom Games were one of my favorite things to play when I look back at it. Global Thermonuclear War and Zombies was crazy.

I would have to say though we do not just stay content with ourselves. As you can see the difference between v4 and v5 this year was huge and we are constantly looking at how we can better improve the site and expand even more - Forums/t=7615121/proposal-to-chan...rules.html

3OG wrote DaleUK what do you like about the site?

The community without a doubt. I say this constantly but I feel it is true and always have - without the members this site would be nothing. Being able to come on and see so many different threads about all sorts of things is extremely engaging and having the ability to discuss everything with others to find out their opinions or have their assistance for any issues is invaluable.

Mickers wrote Admins/Big Lads

Any news on what the plans are for a rep revamp?

EDIT: When will you stop Halo from posting?

This is something regularly brought up and we're trying to come up with some solution to the reputation system. There has been so much work put in to it we don't want to simply remove and disable it however there has to be that balance where it is not being abused.

Pirate88 wrote This is intended to any Administrators.

Did you expect the site to do so well?

Where do you see the site in the next few years? (Sean already answered this)

What are some changes you would make to the site if you could?

What are some of your embarrassing moments on the site?.

When I joined it was for lobbies like many of the other members. I didn't ever think that TTG would expand to where we are today and that I would be playing a part in that. I'm glad that it has though!

A lot of the changes I wished to be put in place have happened over the years, with telli getting more frustrated with me breaking the system when he does them.

I'd say some of the embarrassing moments is myself making an idiot of myself every halloween in the costume contest but it's all for fun so who cares!
Another embarrassing moment which wasn't particularly myself that I hold dear was during v2 of TTG. Others would have heard this story previously over the years. Myself and iDaveX were the first two members to be promoted to Shoutbox Moderators without having any control over the forums. Within about 2 hours Dave had managed to I.P ban everyone with the I.P range 86.xxx by using a wildcard (*) after the 86.
Again cue a very unhappy Sean that we had banned a whole majority of the site from being able to chat in the shoutbox - I remember when Dave realized he had done this and the absolute fear considering we had only had this role for 2 hours and could not fix it as we did not have Admin control of the old shoutbox (was ran externally)

Kled wrote DaleUK - I never got my rep for submitting those surveys that you said for rep, seen a few of them got added. Can I get that?

Strokes wrote @DaleUK - What's was it like being promoted to "Senior Administrator" for the first time?

Pretty surreal to see all your time and effort be recognized. I was actually in a party with Sean chatting about a lot of the staff who had stepped down due to real life circumstances and when hippie (previously the only other Senior Admin) stepped down I mentioned that I was now the longest active staff member and that I'd need his badge now. Started as a joke but Sean gave me the badge saying it was true and again, it's cool to have that recognition.

Thespian wrote So who accepts the most submissions out of all of you?

I would have to say that is between all of the other Admins apart from me. I prefer to focus more on the site and content on the forums rather than the content side - not that I won't do it, just nowhere near as much as the other Admins do and thank god they do because it can be overwhelming at times the amount of content submitted. Not to say that is a bad thing though because the more content the better!

ImTheKidTurtle wrote What do you look at when giving people badges such as ?

Depending on the badge we look for different qualities - there isn't really any set criteria for obtaining it though. Most badges are just issued to people if we feel they deserve some form of recognition for their good attitude and content they provide on the site.

@DaleUK If this site didn't exist what would you do in your spare time? I hear you code/help this site is this true or not don't worry. What are you doing on new years?... drinking I guess? What is your favourite game in 2016 and also what console do you play on?

I'm not actually sure what I would do in my spare time. I think i'd just spend my time playing xbox more without the community interaction? It's odd because I will check TTG daily even if it's only for a couple of minutes through my phone while I am out and about to keep updated with everything.

I won't lie I almost spat my drink out when I read about myself helping to code the site. That is completely wrong - sorry! telli would straight come to my house and kill me if I was to touch the code, haha. I have however studied Website Development in college but that is nothing compared to the skills he has.

For new years I am spending it with all my mates - we are going out to celebrate so yep, going to be pretty drunk. Got the 2nd January booked as a holiday so I can have a wild time and have plenty of time to recover.

Hmm that is a hard question - I would have to say my favorite game of 2016 would be a mix of Rainbow 6 Seige for the games I have played with real mates or Forza Horizon 3. Hilariously Xbox has told me that it was Frozen Free Fall as my dad plays my xbox more often than I do. - Forums/t=7543077/looking-for-a-fe...lpers.html

DoctorStrange wrote Being an admin of a site the has 2+million members, what is the most annoying thang todo as a admin.

I'd have to say the most annoying thing is scam reports. Members who join the site, pay for services to another member who has only 1 post and no proof and then complain that they were scammed.

There is also the odd occasion with members who feel they are above everyone else and having to take them down a few pegs can get tiresome when they challenge everything you say.

Luzion wrote will jay ever get staff?

I wouldn't be able to really comment on that. If there is a need for more staff and other staff members feel he would be a good addition then we would consider him, just as we would with any other member.

etI wrote What member do you miss the most that no longer uses the website.

Gotta be Chubz, the guy was an absolute legend and unfortunately passed away far too **** soon. Any time I chatted to him I would be brought to tears laughing and his good attitude was extremely infectious.

The other choice would be Casca - he is the most funniest guy I know but I know he was caught up in a lot of real life work which made him inactive. Hope everything is going well for him and his camel trading business.

vap wrote This is mostly for @Sean, or Senior Administrators.

My Question ~ What are day to day operations like to keep TTG running smoothly and what is it like managing a forum with over 2 million members?

I don't know a whole lot from the standpoint of keeping the servers operational and so on, that is all Sean's business and I know it has involved a LOT of sleepless nights for him to maintain the service.

It's pretty cool but challenging. A lot of the time we are presented with he said/she said scenarios and you have to play detective to try and figure out who is telling the truth.
I'd say on an ordinary day I would jump on, check with the other staff to see if anything major has happened, check through the reports and different forums for anything against the rules and chill in the shoutbox. I know the content is another part of the site which is a huge focus as well to work through that and clear it out.

Mr_Robot wrote Here's a question for any admin. What time does the ninja contest end tommrow? I ordered something for it so it won't be here until about 3pm est and I don't want to miss the deadline.

At the moment there is no set time - I would suggest to get your submission in today/tonight to make sure that it is definitely entered. I would imagine it would be later on that Naggy ends the competition.

Dinkleberg wrote Adminators,

If you were a commander of the Roman Army in 200 BCE, how would you control your army, who would you take over, why and how?

Second, awesome badge pl0x? (just a joke)

Lastly, Dale, why do you break things?

Delegation would be the key - I would place others in charge and supervise them to make sure everything was going to plan, taking suggestions of plans of attack from them to work out the best solution.

No awesome badge, people would be really upset over that.

I don't know... This long running joke has died down recently because it hasn't happened for a number of months. There seemed to be a point where almost every day I logged in I was finding a problem with the site and having to forward it to be fixed. I remember when we removed -Rep I was still able to work around that and screwed up Zilla's account terribly testing it with him. It must just be a talent to destroy things.

Bias wrote To any admins : if selling of rgh/jtags is prohibited on the site, why is there still a few trusted sellers and a few non-trusted sellers still allowed to sell rgh/jtags on here?

The selling of RGH/JTAGs are prohibited on site due to legal reasons. Those sellers are not allowed to conduct those transactions on here. If you do come across any of this can you please report this so we can remove it.
(Left this answer un-hidden as we are required to take action on these threads)
