I like it man, Im interested in the process you take to make these, any chance you could show us the concept art like from the very begining?
As for the jaw line I think its fien as it matches the two tuffs of furr under the ears.
As for colours I prefer the green one to the red one but both are very nice.

I always begin using Ai and start by making basic shapes and then just keep adding to the design until I think it looks right. I sometimes use visual references such as stocks images.
Ive been doing graphics for 7 years and doing it professionally as a full time job for about 3 years.

Text style looks similar to your Pirate logo, other than that the panda looks good.
