Story time with huntz.
Anyways this was back about 2 years ago....
It was any weekend like any other, I always liked to take a trip on the weekends. That night I didn't want to go hard though I thought 1 tab is good enough to make the night fun.
No visuals, just that weird mindset you get into when taking a trip.
So onto what got me thinking, I decided to play some BF4. I remember this very well. I was playing on operation locker, getting killed over and over again... along with my team mates.
We were under that round bunker, in that little choke point; you know? That little hallway under the center of the map where people spam shotgun bullets.
Well, the thing is we kept going there, again, again, and again. Each time getting killed we were never able to push forward yet the enemy was never able to push us back. Then I just stopped, I analyzed the situation and though. Why do we keep going to that one spot only to get killed over again. I thought of us like bees, protecting the hive from only one exit point, only to get sprayed with bug spray.
Then I thought, what if all of this was an experiment. This is how people act in this sort of situation. "Like the game was greater than a FPS." I said out loud to myself in that moment. It literally sent chills through me when I said that, Like I had some sort of breakthrough. There was a thought of all of this as some well developed test on the average human being. If you were to take an everyday citizen off the street and put them in a similar real life situation how would they act alone, or as a group. Separating the sheeple minded who follow into that same choke hold from the others who split off and hit from the side.
Made me really think was this video game nothing but a tool? Used by higher powers to study us, in a case of war with potentially say, our own government? Or even something greater than just any average government? Is every match being studied closely and well documented, then the data is compiled to make a conclusion on how people act?
Call this crazy or tinfoil hat talk. But you have to admit wouldn't that be smart ASF!? For someone to create something so well orchestrated and actually have it work? You can't disprove nor prove my hypothesis. Ever since then I always laughed at the thought, but at the time it made soo much sense. Maybe because now I'm just susceptible to these types of things as we all are, if you continue to play these games you can't say differently.
Anyways, that was story time with huntz. I'm just curious on others thoughts on the possibility of this, or if you even agree if something created for this purpose is created by the most intelligent minds.

I would have to say no because there is a big difference between playing a simulator in the comfort of your own home where the stakes are almost 0 and being in a real combat situation where the stake is your life.
With that being said though you should probably read a book called Ender's Game.
It is about an alien invasion scenario where the military is recruiting the brightest young minds in the world to launch a pre-emptive attack on the alien homeworld.
The twist [if you don't want to know then don't read on]
If warfare was being fought with drones or synthetic people then I would understand the utility of recruiting video gamers. If your drone died you would simply respawn into another drone and re-enter the battle, but that isn't how warfare is fought at the moment.
Better yet, The Last Starfighter is a film based on exactly what you are describing.
They monitor the players of a flight simulator game to find the best pilots.

Is that the simulator that they use to train for the final assault is actually them commanding the real assault without knowing it.
The main character, Ender, wipes out an entire planet of aliens and then discovers that the aliens were the good guys all along. All the while thinking that he was just playing a simulator.

Interesting, but I would never do in real life what I do on a game.
