If you're sending $500 there's a guarantee who ever you're sending the money too, their PayPal will be temporarily locked because it just looks fishy to PayPal.
They will then have to unlock their account by proving to PayPal they are who they say they are.
Proof of photo ID, proof of address etc.

I had my account locked once because I kept getting payments from people so PayPal locked me out and I had to provide a photo ID and my address. Bs and was a waste of time but it's understandable.

So how would they show that? Do they get an email from paypal and they have to send in simple pictures they could take on their phone or? And how long would it take before it would get unlocked after they have provided proof?

they only lock your account if you dont usually do large transactions, you just call them up and their fix it.
The only reason it wouldnt go through almost instant is if you do bank transfer

It has always been instant for me so I don't see the reason why yours shouldn't be.
