If you have a discrete graphics card make sure it's plugged into that and not the on board graphics.

To be honest with you, I don't know if it's a discrete graphics card or not, how do I tell?

Do all your ports work?

Get a usb charger or something and plug it in and see if your phone/tablet or whatever charges, Obviously make sure your computer is switched on.

If the ports are not working, you probably havent connected something to the motherboard, usually it's a 6 pin connector or a 4 pin and a 2 pin, but sometimes it can be a 8 pin I think.

Its usually located around the top of the motherboard.

Basically make sure you VGA/HDMI/DVI ect connector is plugged into your graphics card, not the motherboard.

Did you physically install a card into the PCI-e slot?

Example:

Make sure you're plugged into the back of the card then and not the motherboard. The motherboard input would be higher up toward the top of the case, the GPU input (the one you want) should be about half way toward the middle of the case.
