So I have my GCSE's in a couple of months and Im starting to realise that when ever I try to revise I can never focus and I often get distracted. I go on my iPad to revise then end up playing games etc. I've tried turning the wifi off but since most of the revision techniques the teachers recommend are sites online I can't do this. Not only this but every time I do successfully revise something, I've usually forgotten it the next day considering i have like 8 other subjects i need to perfect. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask it is the off topic forum so I figured it would be ok haha. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks TTG Community

It literally come down to self-control. Just assign every night to like 1 hour of revision and make a plan to at least, somewhat, stick too.
I finished my GCSEs like 6 months ago and to be really fair, I could have done more revision then I did. I am just super thankful that I got good grades but its a fact that not everyone can do that and some people simply need the extra time.
Try not to think of it as a chore or mandatory task, try and enjoy it as much as you can.

I'd recommend doing past papers since that gives you an idea of what the test will be like and just learning how to answer the questions. For making notes you can do spider diagrams, mind maps or whatever helps you to remember things. I preferred bullet pointing facts but each to their own.
We can't really tell you how to study because every subject is completely different. Maths for example, is about learning how to do the questions and when to use formulas and methods. History for example, is completely different. You need to learn facts and statistics for history, aswell as quote and understand the topics.
Most of the GCSEs are easy enough besides English in my opinion, so many people failed it at my school because it was so hard to study for. I know it's slightly off topic but I'd make sure you study for hard for it. Good luck anyway!

Don't over do your revision mate, making yourself stressed from too much revision won't give you the grades you want/deserve, i'd recommend a schedule and relax, get a good 8 hours of sleep and dont overowork yourself.

Just wanted to share that you should start revising from now and not wait till he whole syllabus is finished at school. That'll be a big mistake. Try doing past papers from 2006 onwards for each subject.
And just wanted to add my experience of A levels ahead is that DO NOT TAKE IT LIGHTLY. The difference between GCSE and A levels is heaven and earth. Especially AS level is very important if you're planning to go to university.
Just take out 2 hours for revision and revise atleast 1 topic for each subject everyday and practice it. If you don't practice then it'll be hard to achieve A*. Make sure to do past papers and understand the mistakes from reading the marking scheme

Organise your time!
Set up in 1-2 spots.
Take a break for 30 minutes, set an alarm/timer
Write down notes.
As you are reading and revising, rewrite what you are learning. Reading doesn't always stick in your memory, writing it out will help it to stick as you have to actually read each word to be able to rewrite it.

Just wanted to add that I gave my AS level exam this May/June 2016 and got an E in chemistry cause I used to bunk classes a lot and started studying late March.
Sat down. Talked with my counselor and studied really hard from mid August till Oct and reappeared for chemistry in Oct/Nov 2016 session And now it got turned into B. Will be giving my A2 level exams in May/June /2017 and have already started studying in hopes for getting straight A's.
That's how I learned the hard way to study.

I done the same, never really done any hard revision. To be honest the best way I found was to create cheat notes. This may sounds stupid I know, but whenever you write down all the stuff you will remember it better and not have any need for the notes
